The game

How to play never have I ever

Everyone holds up 10 fingers, and players take turns saying something they have never done. Anyone who has done it puts a finger down. The last player with a finger up wins.

  1. Hold up your fingers

Ten is the classic game. Use 5 or 3 for a shorter round with younger players.

  2. Read a statement

The reader says one thing they have never done, such as “Never have I ever ridden a horse.”

  3. Done it? Finger down

Everyone who has ridden a horse lowers one finger. The reader keeps theirs up.

  4. Last hand standing

A player with no fingers left is out. The turn passes on until one player still has a finger up.

Nobody has to explain a lowered finger, but most groups ask for the story, and that is where the laughs come from. The game is often played with drinks. This version never is: fingers or points keep the score.

Decks and levels

Never have I ever questions by group and level

Pick a deck under “Who is playing?” and a level under Intensity, and the wheel deals only from that mix. Everyday statements sit in every clean deck, so a family game never runs short.

  • Mild

Everyday experiences: travel, food and hobbies. “Never have I ever seen the ocean” is a good opener for any room.

    Warm-up rounds

  • Medium

Bigger moments, such as meeting a famous person or performing on a stage. More fingers stay up, so stories get longer.

    Once people relax

  • Silly

Harmless mix-ups, like pushing a door that says pull. Nobody looks bad, and nearly every finger goes down.

    Big laughs

Statements about lectures, roommates and work calls stay in College & adults. No clean deck mentions drinking, drugs or anything sexual, and no statement singles out a player.

For grown-ups

Grown-up never have I ever questions that stay clean

The grown-ups' party set is cheeky but never explicit, and none of it involves drinking. Many never have I ever lists are built around drinking and dirty prompts. This one covers dating apps, ghosting, wedding dance floors and karaoke duets instead.

It has 75 statements, 25 at each level, and every one stays non-explicit. Nothing mentions alcohol, so the set suits a bachelorette weekend, a birthday dinner or a game night with old friends.

Choose Grown-ups' party under “Who is playing?” to deal it. The 280 statements in the clean decks never mix with it, so a kids' game can't land on a dating question by accident.

For adult guests

Some party statements touch on dating and breakups, so keep this set for grown-ups who know each other. Anyone can keep a finger up without explaining, and a quick “pass” keeps the round moving.

With the wheel

Play with the never have I ever wheel

The never have I ever wheel holds your players, and each spin picks the next reader and deals their statement. Nobody has to think one up on the spot, and the turn order sorts itself out.

  1. Open Edit entries & settings and type your players' names, one per line, over Player 1 to Player 6.
  2. Choose a deck under “Who is playing?”, then Mild, Medium, Silly or All levels.
  3. Spin by button, tap or Space, then read the popup: it shows the reader's name and their statement.
  4. Players who have done it lower a finger. With scores on, tap Finger down next to each of their names.

Next statement swaps one that doesn't suit the room. A counter shows how many are left, and no statement repeats until the deck runs out, though a reader can come up twice in a row. Reloading the page starts a new deck. Each spin uses your browser's secure random generator, and the wheel fairness test shows the method.

Ways around the spin

  • Sitting in a circle? Skip the spin and press Deal a statement. Pass the phone to the left after each one.
  • One turn each. Press Remove in the popup and that reader leaves the wheel, so everyone reads once. Undo puts them back.
  • Big screen. Full screen fills a TV or projector with the wheel, so the whole room can follow along.
  • Quiet room? Tick Mute all sounds under Customize. The popup still shows every result.

Scoring

Keep score with fingers or points

Tick Keep score and the panel lists every name on the wheel with a one-tap score. Fingers counts down to “out”. Points counts up, so nobody leaves the game early.

  • Young kids

Fingers mode with 3 fingers. Rounds end before attention runs out, and an adult reads the first statement.

    3 fingers

  • Family table

Five fingers keeps a round to one dessert. Ask grandparents for the story behind every lowered finger.

    5 fingers

  • Friends

The classic 10. Readers should pick something they have really never done, which is harder than it sounds.

    10 fingers

  • Dorms and clubs

Points mode for 10 or more players, so nobody sits out after the first few rounds.

    Points

Undo, or −1 in points mode, fixes a wrong tap. Reset scores starts a new game and offers Undo, and a new mode or finger count resets too. Scores are saved in this browser, and the board shows up to 30 players.

Your own

Write your own never have I ever statements

The best never have I ever questions name something you have never done that most of the room probably has. Type it on the wheel as one entry that starts with “Never have I ever”, and the popup shows it as written.

What makes a statement land

  • Aim for the middle. “Never have I ever been on a plane” drops most fingers. “Never have I ever been to Antarctica” drops none.
  • Get specific. “Seen a whale in the wild” starts a better story than “been on a boat”.
  • Talk about yourself. A statement aimed at one player (“forgotten Sam's birthday”) turns the game into a roast.
  • Mix the levels. A silly one after two medium ones resets the room and gets every hand moving.
  • Mix with names. The scoreboard skips any entry that starts with “Never have I ever”, so it lists only the players.

Other games for the same crowd

For quick either-or debates, the would you rather wheel adds an A/B vote. The truth or dare game wheel deals questions and dares, and the question generator's Have you ever set turns clean statements into questions.

FAQ

Never have I ever wheel FAQ

Is never have I ever a drinking game here?

No. This version is scored with fingers or points, and no statement in any deck mentions alcohol.

How many never have I ever questions are there?

355. The clean decks share 280 statements across 4 groups and 3 levels, and the grown-ups' party set adds 75 of its own.
