How to use the random MLB team generator
This wheel of MLB teams starts full, so an MLB wheel spin takes one tap. The filters come in when you want a smaller field, and lines you type yourself survive every filter change.
Pick the leagues
Keep the full 30-team wheel, or press American League, National League or a division such as NL Central to take those teams off.
Fine-tune by club
The Pick teams one by one checklist lets you tick exact clubs, such as the teams still alive in October.
Spin
Spin with the button, a click on the wheel or the Space bar. You’ll see a result such as “AL West · American League”.
Spin again
Spin as often as you like. Press Remove first if that team should sit out, or Undo in the Entries tab to reverse a filter.
League or division button looks dashed? Some of its clubs are missing from the wheel. Press it once more to fill the group back in.

Every team on the MLB wheel, with its ballpark
The wheel uses the six divisions of the 2026 season. Each club's card shows the home park from MLB.com's team directory and the year that park hosted its first MLB regular-season game.

Road trip
Ballpark road trips with the random MLB team generator
To plan a ballpark trip, draw 5 teams with Several, no repeats and visit those parks. Type 5 as the number to pick and press Pick. Each club leaves the wheel once drawn, so no park repeats, and Quick spins keep each turn to 1 second. Copy list hands you the stops in draw order, and the Results tab stores the draw with its time.
The draw mixes eras. Four parks hosted their first MLB game before 1970, led by Fenway Park (1912) and Wrigley Field (1914). Of the 30, 17 first hosted MLB in 2000 or later.
Want a tighter route? Press No teams and add one division, or tick neighbors in the checklist. The random state generator works for a trip that starts from a state instead of a team.
- Includes Fenway Park or Wrigley Field31%
- Crosses into Canada for a game16.7%
- Visits five different divisions13.2%
- Stays in one league4.2%
House rules for a spun road trip
- Draw order is the route. Visit the parks in the order they came out, or sort them by distance once the draw is done.
- Agree on one reroll. Decide before the draw whether a park you have already seen can be swapped for a fresh spin.
- Mind the border. A draw that lands on the Toronto Blue Jays means a game in Toronto, so check travel documents early.
- Check the schedule first. A club away on a long road swing may have no home games in your window; spin again for that stop.
October
Season and postseason pools on the MLB wheel
Office pool mode deals the teams on the wheel to a list of people in turn, after a random shuffle. Deal all 30 before Opening Day, or only the 12 postseason teams in October.
- 12Postseason teams6 per league: 3 division winners, 3 Wild Cards
- 18Teams to untickEveryone who missed the bracket
- 3 each4-person October pool12 teams, nothing left over
| In the pool | Clubs apiece | Clubs left |
|---|---|---|
| 4 people | 7 | 2 clubs |
| 5 people | 6 | None |
| 6 people | 5 | None |
| 7 people | 4 | 2 clubs |
| 8 people | 3 | 6 clubs |
| 9 people | 3 | 3 clubs |
| 12 people | 2 | 6 clubs |
With 5 people in October, each gets 2 and 2 teams go to random people or sit out. "Deal them too" hands those out 1 each; "Set them aside" lists them as not dealt. The shuffle also sets the seating order, so nobody can steer who gets which team, and Copy or Download CSV saves the result. Format from MLB.com's postseason explainer.

Fantasy drafts, franchise saves and game-day picks
A season of 30 clubs throws up a lot of small choices. These are the ones the random MLB team generator settles fastest.
Fantasy baseball draft order
Swap the clubs for manager names (No teams, then type them in Entries) and pick that many with no repeats. First out picks first.
Franchise mode
Baseball video games with a franchise mode open on a team choice. Spin it, then play that club for at least one full season.
Tonight’s game
Several games on at once? Keep only the clubs playing tonight in the checklist, then spin for the one to watch. For a pick’em, spin a club a day and everyone guesses whether it wins.
Baseball trivia
Spin, then name the club’s division or its home ballpark. The cards in the ballpark section double as an answer key.
Picking softball sides for the office game? The random team generator splits a list of names into even teams. Hockey fans get the same filters and pool on the random NHL team generator, and basketball fans on the NBA team wheel.
Athletics
Why the random MLB team list says “Athletics”
MLB lists the club as plain “Athletics”, so the wheel shows that name with no city. MLB.com gives its ballpark as Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento, California, and the team plays in the AL West.
MLB.com's ballpark guide calls Sutter Health Park the A's home from 2025 to 2027, until their new park in Las Vegas opens in 2028. The Nicknames option leaves “Athletics” as it is; every other club shortens, such as Red Sox or Blue Jays.
The newest clubs on the wheel are the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Tampa Bay Rays. Both played their first season in 1998, bringing MLB to 30 clubs, per MLB's expansion-era glossary.
The Toronto Blue Jays are the only club based in Canada. Three nicknames (Rangers, Cardinals and Giants) also belong to football or hockey teams, but the MLB wheel only recognizes baseball clubs.
| On the wheel | Club |
|---|---|
| No city in its name | Athletics |
| Newest MLB home | Sutter Health Park, first MLB game 2025 |
| Newest clubs, from 1998 | Arizona Diamondbacks, Tampa Bay Rays |
| Only club in Canada | Toronto Blue Jays |
