Spin the wheel: NFL teams in four moves
Think of it as NFL spin the wheel with the league's own groups built in. The random NFL team generator opens with every team loaded, so the first spin takes one tap.
Choose the field
Keep all 32 teams, or press AFC, NFC or a division such as NFC North. Each button takes its teams off the wheel or puts them back.
Full names or nicknames
Pick Full names (Buffalo Bills) or Nicknames (Bills) under Names on the wheel. The popup gives the full name either way.
Spin it
Hit Spin, tap the wheel itself or use the Space key. Up comes the team with a line such as “AFC East · American Football Conference”.
One, several or a pool
Set What to pick to Several, no repeats for a draw order, or to Office pool to hand every team to a list of people.
Filter shortcuts that save a few taps
- One conference: press NFC and the 16 AFC teams stay, or the other way round.
- One division: press No teams, then a division such as AFC North. Each of its 4 teams then has a 25% chance.
- Leave out your own team: uncheck it in the Pick teams one by one list, so the wheel can't hand it back to you.
- Dashed outline? Some of that group's teams are missing. Tap All 32 teams to restore the full league.
- Your own lines stay put. Anything typed in the Entries box survives a filter press, and Undo in the Entries tab reverses the last one.
AFC and NFC
All 32 on the NFL team wheel, by division
The NFL has 32 teams in 2 conferences, the AFC and the NFC, and each conference has 4 divisions of 4 teams. Every filter button on the wheel matches one of these 8 groups.
| Division | Conference | Teams on the wheel |
|---|---|---|
| AFC East | American Football Conference | Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots, New York Jets |
| AFC North | American Football Conference | Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers |
| AFC South | American Football Conference | Houston Texans, Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Tennessee Titans |
| AFC West | American Football Conference | Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs, Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers |
| NFC East | National Football Conference | Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders |
| NFC North | National Football Conference | Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings |
| NFC South | National Football Conference | Atlanta Falcons, Carolina Panthers, New Orleans Saints, Tampa Bay Buccaneers |
| NFC West | National Football Conference | Arizona Cardinals, Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks |
New York and Los Angeles each have one team in each conference. New York has the Jets (AFC East) and Giants (NFC East). Los Angeles has the Chargers (AFC West) and Rams (NFC West). Names and divisions follow the NFL.com 2026 division standings, checked on October 22, 2026, so you get Washington Commanders and Las Vegas Raiders.
The maths
Odds on the random NFL team generator
- 1 in 32Full wheel3.125% for every team, every spin
- 1 in 16One conference6.25% each once AFC or NFC is off
- 1 in 4One division25% each inside a single division
All 32 teams get identical odds, and those odds reset with every spin. A team that just came up is as likely as any other to land next time, unless you press Remove.
That makes waiting for one particular team slow. Your favorite shows up at least once in 10 spins only 27.2% of the time. It passes even odds at spin 22.
Seeing all 32 teams at least once takes about 130 spins on average, because repeats pile up near the end. Several, no repeats gets there in exactly 32 spins.
Your browser's crypto random source makes the pick as you press Spin, so the length of the spin can't steer it. Run the 10,000-spin fairness check on any list to see the spread for yourself.

Fantasy football
Fantasy draft order from the NFL wheel
To set a fantasy football draft order, put every manager's name on the wheel and run a Several, no repeats draw. The first name out picks first, and the last name out picks last.
Press No teams, open Edit entries & settings and type one manager per line. Then set How many to pick to your league size and press Pick. Quick spins keep a 12-name draw under half a minute.
Each name leaves the wheel once drawn and returns when the draw ends. Stop the draw ends it early and keeps the names picked so far, and the Results tab saves the draw with its time.
Each manager has the same shot at pick 1, and the table shows how many orders are possible. Copy list puts the numbered order on your clipboard for the league chat.
A snake draft only needs the wheel once. Round 1 uses the drawn order, and every even round runs it backwards. For a list that is only names, the random name picker is built for that job.
| Managers | Possible orders | Chance of pick 1 |
|---|---|---|
| 8 managers | 40,320 | 12.5% |
| 10 managers | 3,628,800 | 10% |
| 12 managers | 479,001,600 | 8.333% |
| 14 managers | 87,178,291,200 | 7.143% |
Every week
Survivor pools and weekly picks
In a survivor pool you back one team to win each week and can never use that team again. A random pick is a fun handicap, and the Remove button enforces the no-repeat rule for you.
- 18Weeks to fill17 games plus 1 bye for every team
- 1 in 32Week 1 pickEvery team is still on the wheel
- 15Teams left in week 18After 17 picks, each one removed
Survivor pick
Spin, then press Remove in the popup so that team never returns. The wheel keeps the shorter list in this browser for next week.
Pick’em side game
Spin one team per player each week. Everyone calls the result of that team’s next game, and the closest call wins the round.
Which game to watch
Untick the teams without a game that day under Pick teams one by one, then spin what is left.
Trivia night
Spin a team, then ask for its division, a current player or a past coach. Two wrong answers and the next player spins.
Fun first
The wheel knows nothing about injuries, weather or home field. Keep random picks for games among friends where nothing rides on the result. Playing flag football at halftime? The random team generator splits the group into even sides.
Video games
Franchise mode: a random NFL team to run
Football video games with a franchise or career mode leave the biggest choice to you: which team to take over. Let the wheel decide, then commit to that team for the whole save.
Any team
Spin the full wheel and take whoever lands. No rerolls is the usual house rule.
Division rivals
Press No teams, then one division. The save fills up with rivalry games, since each team meets its 3 division rivals twice a season.
Other conference
Press the conference you always follow, so only the other 16 teams remain for a fresh start.
Team and rival
Draw 2 with Several, no repeats. Play as the first team and treat the second as the rival you must finish ahead of.
Office pool
Deal all 32 teams in an office pool
Office pool mode shuffles the teams and deals them out like cards, so no hand ends up more than one team bigger than another. Type one person per line, choose what happens to the remainder, then press Deal.
| Group size | Teams per person | Deal them too | Set them aside |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 people | 8 | No remainder | No remainder |
| 6 people | 5 | 2 people get 6 | 2 teams not dealt |
| 8 people | 4 | No remainder | No remainder |
| 10 people | 3 | 2 people get 4 | 2 teams not dealt |
| 12 people | 2 | 8 people get 3 | 8 teams not dealt |
32 teams divide evenly between 2, 4, 8, 16 or 32 people. The result lists each hand with divisions; Copy suits a group chat and Download CSV opens in a spreadsheet. One crypto shuffle orders both the teams and the people, which decides who gets an extra team. Filter the random NFL team generator first to deal a single conference or division.
New fan?
Adopt a random team for the 2026 season
Spin the random NFL team generator once and follow whichever team lands for a full season. It is a low-stakes way into the NFL for a new fan, or a reset for anyone tired of their usual team.
You won't be short of games. Each team plays 17 regular-season games with one bye week, and 6 of them come against its 3 division rivals, home and away. The rotation means every team meets each of the other 31 at least once in four years, per NFL Football Operations.
The newest club on the wheel is the Houston Texans, in the AFC South. NFL owners awarded Houston the 32nd franchise in October 1999, and the team opened its first regular season at home on September 8, 2002 (Texans 25th season timeline).
| Your adopted team | How much |
|---|---|
| Regular-season games | 17, plus one bye week |
| Games against division rivals | 6: two each against 3 rivals |
| Every other club met | At least once in four years |
| Spins that land on a division rival | 3 in 32, or 9.375% |
Four NFL nicknames also belong to a baseball or hockey club: Jets, Giants, Panthers and Cardinals. Typing “Cardinals” or “Giants” here still means the Arizona Cardinals or the New York Giants, because each league's wheel only matches its own teams. For a mixed-sport night, the random NBA team wheel and the NHL team picker work the same way.

Can I use nicknames such as “Bills”?
Yes. Choose Nicknames under Names on the wheel. The popup still shows the full team name with its division.

Use Office pool: each person gets 3 teams, and the last 2 go to 2 random people or are set aside. You choose which before you deal.
How do I stop a team coming up twice?
Press Remove when the result pops up, or switch to Several, no repeats to draw a set of different teams in one go.

Can I add college teams or other names?
Yes. Add each one as a new line in the Entries box. The conference and division buttons leave typed lines alone.
Does the wheel show team logos or colors?
No. Slices carry team names only, and their colors come from the theme you pick in Customize.
